University of Tsukuba VPN Services Setting Sheet

The VPN server of the University of Tsukuba VPN Services supports a total 4 types of VPN protocols. Connections can be made with the user's preferred VPN protocol.

If you know how to set the VPN Client function of your computer and smart phone, by entering the content of the following Setting Sheet, you will be able to immediately connect with the VPN services.

 

 

How to connect with SSL-VPN (SoftEther VPN) protocol (Windows only)

For connections from Windows installed with SoftEther VPN Client or PacketiX VPN Client, the method using SoftEther VPN protocol is the easiest and most reliable.

How to connect with L2TP/IPsec protocol (on all OS)

From Mac OS X and smart phones (iPhone, Android), the connection method using L2TP/IPsec protocol is the easiest.
Connections can also be made from Windows (with Windows, the settings are a little complicated).

There is no need to install the client software.

(Half-width lower-case letters 3 character fixed)
Please be careful, as the Secret (Pre-shared key) is different as the Password. This is common for all users.

 

How to connect using OpenVPN protocol (on all OS)

You can make VPN connections by using OpenVPN protocol from OS (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, iPhone, Android) that runs OpenVPN Client.

Please give it a try if you have already installed OpenVPN Client onto your computer or smart phone.

The setting can automatically be imported with an iPhone or Android, by opening this page in a browser on your smart phone with OpenVPN installed and then clicking on the setting file below.

UDP is recommended as it is fast.
Setting files using TCP Download the setting file:
campus-vpn-tcp.ovpn
Please give TCP a try if UDP communications cannot be made due to restrictions in the firewall and NAT of your home or business trip destination environment.

How to connect using MS-SSTP (Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol) protocol (Windows Vista and later versions)

MS-SSTP VPN Client functions that can make VPN connections to the SoftEther VPN Server are incorporated in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows.

When using MS-SSTP, there is no need to install the client software.
